About Beth

Hello, my name is Beth and I’m a Bristol based Yoga teacher and lifelong Yoga student.
I empower women to honour their bodies and inner rhythms through yoga and cyclical awareness.

In 2019, after a long period of contemplation and overcoming fears, I enrolled in and completed a 250hr Yoga Teacher Training course at Yogasara in in Krama Vinyasa Tantra Yoga. I then more recently completed my 300hr Advanced Teacher Training with the Shanti Centre Training School, specialising in women’s wellbeing and accessible yoga.

As a child, I was fascinated by wisdom traditions and passionately expressing myself through dance. I first discovered the spiritual power of Yoga whilst staying in the Shanti Toya Ashram in 2017. During my stay, I felt my heart devoting itself to exploring, sharing, and loving the Yoga journey with others.

Yoga is healing. Yoga is becoming. Yoga is magic.

I lovingly infuse my classes with curiosity, creativity, and compassion, guiding my students beyond the physical asana postures and deeper into pure experience. My classes explore Yogic philosophy, mudras, self-contemplation, pranayama, and mantras.

Why Matr?

Matr is one of many Sanskrit words for mother. It also means with true knowledge. My own practice has been a journey of waking up to this truth, guided by many teachers, mothers and the greatest mother and teacher of all, Mother Earth herself.

Matr refers to the elements earth and water. As a very watery person, with 6 water signs in my birth chart, a flowy asana practice (physical yoga) comes naturally to me. I have to work hard with grounding practices, bringing myself back into my body. This has developed my practice into a dance between the elements of earth and water. Grounding but explorative, steady yet expansive.

Matr is another name for two of my favourite Goddesses. Durga, the goddess of strength and justice who was created to combat evil. Laksmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, love and joy.
